How the car donation process works
Start with the title you have, even if it looks complicated
When you request a Little Rock car donation pickup through RideRescue, be ready to describe the title situation as clearly as you can. A clean title in your name is the easiest path, but Heritage for the Blind can often guide donors through lost-title questions, out-of-state titles, inherited vehicles, and other paperwork issues. Tell the donation team whether the vehicle is in Little Rock, Maumelle, Jacksonville, Benton, Conway, or another nearby area, and whether the title is available. You do not need to solve every issue before asking for help.
If the title is lost, call before you give up
A missing title does not always mean your donation cannot happen. Heritage for the Blind can help you understand the state process for replacing or documenting a lost title, including what information may be needed from Arkansas or another state DMV. In some cases, vehicles without titles can still be accepted, depending on the vehicle, its location, and available ownership records. Because requirements vary, the best step is to call RideRescue and discuss the exact situation before scheduling. You may be closer to donating than you think.
Resolve any lien before the title can be transferred
If a bank, credit union, or finance company is listed on the title, the lien generally must be satisfied before the vehicle can be donated. That means the loan is paid off or the lender releases its interest in the vehicle. If you are unsure whether a lien still exists, contact the lender and ask what is required to release the title. RideRescue can explain what to look for, but the lender must provide the lien release or updated title. Once the lien is cleared, the donation can usually move forward smoothly.
Sign the title over to Heritage for the Blind at pickup
For most Little Rock Metro donations, the title handoff happens when the tow driver arrives. The driver brings the pickup paperwork and confirms where the donor should sign. The title should be signed over to Heritage for the Blind, EIN 58-2164446, not left blank. Free towing is available, so you do not need to drive the vehicle across town or arrange transport yourself. After the signed title and vehicle are handed off, donors typically do not need a separate DMV visit related to the donation transfer.
Special ownership situations may need extra documents
If the vehicle title is in a deceased spouse’s or parent’s name, additional paperwork may be required before donation. Depending on the state and the estate situation, that could involve probate documents, an affidavit of heirship, or other proof that you are authorized to transfer the vehicle. If the title was issued outside Arkansas, that is usually fine; foreign-state titles are accepted when the ownership paperwork is valid.
