How the car donation process works
Start your Little Rock donation with a simple request
Your donation begins by telling RideRescue about the car, truck, van, SUV, motorcycle, or other eligible vehicle you want to give. You do not need to know the sale value before starting. Donors across the Little Rock Metro, from Hillcrest and The Heights to Southwest Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood, Benton, Bryant, Maumelle, and Conway, can request pickup. The goal is to make the first step easy, especially if the vehicle no longer fits your life but could still create meaningful support for Heritage for the Blind.
Schedule free towing where the vehicle is located
After your request is received, RideRescue helps arrange free towing at a time that works for you. The vehicle can often be picked up from a home, office, repair shop, apartment community, storage location, or family property in the Little Rock area. You do not have to pay towing costs, and you do not have to drive the vehicle to a drop-off site. This is especially helpful if the car is not running, has been parked for months, or is simply taking up space.
Your vehicle is sold to create charitable proceeds
Once picked up, the donated vehicle is processed for sale. The sale price depends on factors such as condition, age, mileage, demand, and whether the vehicle is best suited for resale or auction. RideRescue does not promise a specific amount, because values are determined through the actual sale process. What matters for mission-minded donors is the destination of the proceeds: 100-percent of the vehicle sale proceeds go to Heritage for the Blind, supporting services for people who are blind or visually impaired.
Proceeds fund services and benefit connections
Heritage for the Blind uses vehicle donation proceeds to support services for blind and visually impaired Americans, including helping individuals understand and connect with assistance programs. That can include government benefits such as SSI/SSDI, LIHEAP, Section 8 housing assistance, Medicare Extra Help, and Medicaid. If you, a family member, or someone in your Little Rock community wants to check possible eligibility for assistance programs, Heritage also provides a benefit-finder resource at nhftb.org/finder. Your donated vehicle helps keep this mission moving.
Receive the tax documentation you need
Heritage for the Blind is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN 58-2164446, so donations may be tax deductible for donors who itemize deductions. If your donated vehicle sells for more than $500, IRS Form 1098-C is used to report the gross vehicle sale price, which is generally the amount used for the deduction. Keep your donation records with your tax documents and speak with a qualified tax professional if you have questions about your personal filing situation.
